When Oroquieta became a pueblo and parish in 1887, Recollect Friar Tomas Casado, alongside the townspeople, built what would become the town’s iconic landmark—the Kiosk. Inspired by the kiosks of his homeland in Spain, this historic structure has stood for 133 years as a symbol of Oroquieta’s heritage, serving as a gathering place for public events and a cherished link to the past.
