Panguil Bay Bridge

Misamis Occidental
A 3.77-kilometer (2.34-mile) extradosed bridge, the longest water-spanning bridge in Mindanao, Philippines. Connecting Tangub, Misamis Occidental, and Tubod, Lanao del Norte, it significantly reduces travel time between the two provinces from 2.5 hours to just a few minutes, eliminating the need for ferry crossings.

Caluya Shrine

Capital of Free Philippines – Provincial Capitol, Oroquieta City

The Provincial Capitol was designed by the National Artist Architect Juan Arellano, and it was built in 1935. It has “twin capitol” in Surigao del Norte which was built using the designs and plans of the Misamis Occidental Capitol. During World War 2, the Filipino Guerilla forces declared Oroquieta City and the Capitolio as the seat of the Free Philippines and commenced the printing of Mindanao emergency notes in Jimenez municipality. It is said that a lot of dead guerillas were buried right at the grounds of the Capitol, making the Capitol a hallowed and sacred ground for fallen & forgotten Misamisnon heroes.

Bawbawon Island, Plaridel

Bawbawon Island in Plaridel, Misamis Occidental, is a hidden gem with white-sand beaches, tall palm trees, and rich mangroves. Named after the local word "babao" meaning shallow, the island's shoreline is revealed at low tide, best visited before 1:30 PM. The 299.9-hectare mangrove forest and marine sanctuary make it known for its seclusion and natural beauty.
